Michael Naera is a respected leader in suicide prevention and M?ori mental health. He is widely recognised for his dedication to enhancing the well-being of wh?nau?(families) across Aotearoa, New Zealand. With a strong focus on empowering communities through culturally grounded?approaches, Michael has played a pivotal role in advancing M?ori-focused initiatives prioritising mental well-being and cultural identity.

As a member of the World Indigenous Suicide Prevention Conference Board, Michael combines his expertise in M?ori and Indigenous suicide prevention. With his understanding of Te Ao M?ori (the M?ori world), he makes sure that the solutions he advocates for are not only practical but also aligned with tikanga M?ori?(M?ori customs and practices) and Indigenous approaches to preventing suicide. His work in creating safe spaces for open discussions around suicide and well-being has contributed to reducing stigma and increasing awareness across diverse M?ori?communities.

In addition to his professional work, Michael is an inspirational speaker who has presented at numerous national and international conferences. He shares his insights on the intersection of mental health, cultural identity, and community-driven solutions. His contributions have been instrumental in shaping the direction of suicide prevention efforts, both within M?ori communities and at the governmental level.

Michael Naera?s vision for the future is clear: to create a world where cultural foundations support mental well-being, wh?nau are empowered to lead their solutions, and communities thrive through collective care and resilience.
