Dana McDonald
SEWB Postvention Member Support Coordinator
Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT)
Dana McDonald is a proud Gunditjmara woman who has lived and worked on Larrakia Country in the Northern Territory for the past four years. As the SEWB Postvention Member Support Coordinator at the Aboriginal Medical Services Alliance Northern Territory (AMSANT), Dana leads the Healing Together – Strengthening Culturally Responsive Postvention Support project in partnership with StandBy Support After Suicide and with collaboration from Thirrili.
In this role, she supports Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations (ACCHOs) across the NT to respond to suicide and critical incidents through culturally safe, trauma-informed, and community-led approaches. Her work focuses on strengthening SEWB(all) team capacity, building place-based postvention advisory and response groups, and developing practical, culturally grounded toolkits and resources co-designed with member services.
Dana’s work is deeply informed by lived experience, cultural integrity, and a belief in community-led healing. She is passionate about creating safe spaces for collective reflection, truth-telling, and growth; ensuring that postvention is understood not only as a response, but also as a pathway to prevention and cultural renewal.
