Denise Flanders is a proud Gumbaynggirr woman from Northern NSW, connected to the saltwater and freshwater peoples of the Coffs Harbour region. A Registered Nurse for over 25 years, Denise has worked primarily in mental health and wellbeing, with extensive experience across rural and remote areas of Australia. Her passion and perseverance lie in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, addressing the impacts of intergenerational trauma, and promoting culturally safe care. Denise currently works with Galambila Aboriginal Health Service as a Mental Health Nurse in the Culture Care Connect program, focusing on suicide prevention, postvention, and supporting the most vulnerable members of her community. At this conference, Denise will share insights into culturally responsive approaches to mental health and strategies for supporting individuals and families affected by suicide
