Professor Kathleen Clapham

Kathleen is a proud Murrawarri woman and anthropologist with over 35 years’ experience in Indigenous health research and teaching. Her work spans Indigenous research methodology, qualitative inquiry, policy-relevant scholarship and community-based interventions, with a sustained focus on the safety, health and wellbeing of Aboriginal children and young people. She was the founding Director of the Ngarruwan Ngadju First People’s Health and Wellbeing Research Centre at the University of Wollongong and currently serves as Honorary Professor in the School of Medical, Indigenous and Health Sciences at the University of Wollongong. Kathleen’s research explores the social and cultural determinants of health, health equity, and participatory approaches to improving outcomes for Indigenous populations. She brings extensive expertise in peer review and commissioned research, publication, and HDR supervision.
