Thirrili

Tanja Hirvonen is the Chief Executive Officer of Thirrili, leading national efforts to deliver culturally safe, evidence-based wellbeing and postvention support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, families, and communities. A registered Clinical Psychologist with more than twelve years of experience, she has worked across academic, clinical, and executive roles in metropolitan, regional, and remote settings.

Her professional focus includes trauma-informed practice, suicide prevention, and building strong social and emotional wellbeing teams within organisations and communities. Tanja is passionate about strengthening the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workforce and improving health and wellbeing outcomes through culturally grounded approaches. She also serves on the Boards of the Australian Indigenous Psychologists Association and the Black Dog Institute, and collaborates closely with the Board of Thirrili to advance Indigenous leadership, representation, and empowerment.
