Aftercare Support Worker and Youth Team Member

Waminda

I am Wanda Simms; I am a proud Bidjigal woman from Laperouse (Sydney) and Wandi Wandian woman on the South Coast of NSW. With experience as an Aboriginal Education Officer and qualifications in Aged and Disability Support Work and a Diploma in Family and Youth Intervention, I bring a holistic approach to my work. Currently, I work at Waminda in a Social and Emotional Wellbeing (SEWB) role, supporting Aboriginal women and their children through suicide prevention initiatives. As a cultural mentor, I guide children and young people in both in-school and after-school programs, nurturing their connection to culture and identity. My passion lies in suicide prevention and walking alongside my community on our shared journey toward healing and resilience.
