Recap of 2025 forum
The 2025 Indigenous Suicide Prevention Forum highlighted the vital role of grassroots, community-led suicide prevention initiatives across Australia and Aotearoa and included a diverse range of speakers with differing lived experiences. The event strengthened connections between experts, community leaders, and practitioners, fostering shared learning and collaboration.
Attendees were inspired by the next generation of leaders with a youth keynote from One Percent Program Founder Dante Rodrigues, MC Bianca Hunt and youth panel led by AIPA Committee Member Mark Nannup. Yamatji/Noongar.
A strong focus was placed on cultural healing, with activities such as art therapy, an On-Country walk and Mullett haul with the Gamay Rangers, and a cultural cruise with Tribal Warrior. Trauma-informed yoga, weaving, and grounding bodywork further supported attendees’ wellbeing. The Forum continues to provide a culturally safe space for connection, healing, and solutions-driven conversations to strengthen suicide prevention efforts in First Nations communities.
